The Unicorn Unchained Domain takes its name from the Unicorn Unchained Meadery (U2M). U2M has been making small quantities of mead for personal consumption since 1994. The meadery is an informational site, providing an online look at the U2M brew book.

My current job (since May 1999) is as an editor for LWN.net. In the past I have been a software engineer, a greenskeeper, a snowshoveler, a blacksmith, and a hotwalker, among other (less fun) jobs.
This site is about a couple of my hobbies. Another hobby, which I haven't actually done in a very long time, is spelunking. Here's a picture of me in a cave in Ft Stanton, New Mexico taken by Jorge Darr, circa 1984.
